This week’s Travel Pinspiration theme on yTravelBlog is National Parks. While I’m not the most outdoorsy person around, I have been to my fair share of national parks in the US and in other countries. I may not like camping or intense hiking, but I do love the beauty of nature and taking lots of photos.
Fiordland National Park, New Zealand
Last year when Andy and I were in New Zealand, we booked an overnight Milford Sound cruise. It included a bus transfer from Queenstown to the boat, which turned out to be almost as good as the cruise itself. We saw a historic steam train, several lakes, and we spent some time in Fiordland National Park.
Somewhere near Perth, Australia
Ok, so I don’t actually know where I was besides a national park outside of Perth, Australia, but I will always remember going there. Not only was it the first time I ever saw a kangaroo in the wild, but it was less than 24 hours after I landed on my final continent, roughly three months before my 30th birthday.
Tierra del Fuego National Park
After our Antarctica cruise, my friend Amanda and I spent a few very cold hours exploring Tierra del Fuego National Park (Tierra del Fuego means Land of Fire) in Ushuaia, Argentina. It’s the southernmost town in the world, so even in the summer we froze our butts off. I loved these cute bunnies we saw hopping around.
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah
Several years ago, while visiting my best friend Rachel, I decided to drive to Bryce Canyon in Utah. But due to unfortunate mapping errors, my directions sent me through Zion National Park, instead of around it. In order to get to Bryce Canyon, I would’ve had to pay entrance fees for both parks, and it was quite a delay. I decided to just make the most of it and see some of Zion, which was pretty cool too. But I still want to go to Bryce Canyon one of these days.
Caanan and Kent, who run the inspiring blog No Vacation Required, visited a handful of national parks this summer, including Bryce Canyon. There pictures, including the one below, confirm my desire to go there. Check out there Photo Wrap Up of their USA Road Trip here.
