A few years ago my friend Jessica, who I’ve known since we were seven years old, asked me to be in her wedding. The man she married was from the island of Gozo in Malta, so they had a church wedding there for his family. The reception was held outdoors, in the heat of August. We had this for our view from the daylight of late afternoon until deep into the night. People from Malta sure know how to party, and apparently really long receptions are the norm. There was a buffet with so many courses I couldn’t eat after awhile, the DJ played music for hours while family and friends danced and hoisted the happy couple onto their shoulders, and we all drank. It was a very fun night, and I was really happy to share in my friend’s special day.
