Dear Prague,

I had been looking forward to meeting you for quite some time. I had heard so many great things from others who had visited, but I couldn’t manage to get there myself. At least, not as soon as I wanted. But when I finally arrived, you swept me off my feet. The ornate medieval buildings, the festive Christmas markets, the tasty sweets. It wasn’t an easy journey, with the cold temperatures and snow. You didn’t always see my best side – cold is not my thing. But you understood and showered me with plenty of sunshine, which made me love you even more.

I wrapped my newly purchased scarf tight around my neck as I wandered the streets, getting to know you better. Seeing the views from the top of the Astronomical Clock and the hill near Prague Castle fulfilled a long-held dream. Walking across Charles Bridge, with its vendors, odd statues, and street musicians, was like a comforting hug in the cold wind. Though the snow was not ideal, it made everything sparkle in the sunlight.

Three days in Prague was a short trip, but it was long enough for me to see what a great city you are. I saw many sights and experienced many things you had to offer, but I know there is so much more for me to discover. I can’t wait for the future when I can see you again.

My amazing Prague, you were worth the wait.

Love always, Ali

I love it, such a beautiful letter to such a beautiful place. I have never been but I will one day. I am so glad you were able to meet and fall in love. I’m sure you looked great in the but if not hopefully the city will be able to see you soon during some warmer times.

I dearly hope I feel this way when I arrive in Paris, after dreaming of it for 30 years! My hope is to find this true: “America is my country, but Paris is my hometown. ~ Gertrude Stein”

This was so lovely Ali! Very happy for you that you finally experienced Prague after we’d talked about it that day at Amelie’s!

I’m glad that it didn’t turn out to be a break up letter. Since you’ve declared your love, should I feel bad if I swoop in and steal it? Nah… I won’t…
